Calculator guide

Set an Amazon price from costs and target margin

Enter product cost, fulfillment, storage, inbound freight, packaging, advertising and other per-unit costs. Add the referral fee rate for the product category and the profit margin you want to keep after those costs.

The calculator solves backward from the target margin. It divides fixed per-unit costs by one minus the referral-fee rate and target-margin rate, so the recommended price funds both percentage deductions.

Use marketplace-specific rates. Amazon referral fees differ by category and can use tiered rates, while FBA and storage costs depend on product size, weight, season and inventory age.

Run a base case and a higher-cost case before publishing a price. Confirm the final assumptions with Seller Central and Amazon official pricing tools.

Formula

Set an Amazon price from costs and target margin

Recommended price = Fixed per-unit costs ÷ (1 − referral fee rate − target margin rate)

  1. Add product, fulfillment, storage, inbound shipping, packaging, advertising, other costs and allocated selling-plan cost.
  2. Convert referral fee and target margin from percentages to decimals.
  3. Divide fixed costs by 1 minus both rates.
  4. Calculate referral fee and estimated profit from the recommended price.

Frequently asked questions

Amazon Pricing Calculator FAQ

Should I replace the default rates?

Yes. Defaults are examples. Use the current rate and fixed fee from the marketplace, payment account or contract that applies to your country and transaction.

How accurate is the result?

The arithmetic follows the displayed formula. Accuracy depends on complete inputs, correct fee scope and consistent currency and reporting period.

Can I use another currency?

Yes. Keep every monetary input in the same currency. The calculator does not perform foreign-exchange conversion unless conversion is an explicit input.

Should taxes be included?

Follow the platform fee base and your accounting purpose. Some platforms calculate fees on tax or shipping; the guide and formula show the scope used here.

Why should I run more than one scenario?

Rates, advertising, shipping and refunds can change. A base case and a higher-cost case show how sensitive profit or payout is to those changes.

Is this an official calculator?

No. It is an independent planning tool. Confirm rates and final decisions with the linked official sources and your account statements.

Are my inputs uploaded?

No. Calculations run locally in the browser and do not require sending calculator inputs to a server.
