Build a fee-aware eBay selling price

The pricing model starts with all per-order costs and solves for the selling price required after percentage-based eBay and promoted-listing fees. Use category- and country-specific rates rather than a generic marketplace average.

Include product cost, outbound shipping, packaging, insertion fees, fixed order fees and other expected costs. If shipping is charged separately, keep its treatment consistent with the fee base used by your eBay market.

Target margin is profit divided by selling revenue, not markup on cost. A high target may produce an unrealistic price when marketplace fees and advertising rates are also high.

Compare the result with competitor prices, conversion rate and expected returns. A mathematically valid price is not automatically commercially viable.

Formula

Build a fee-aware eBay selling price

Recommended price = Fixed per-order costs ÷ (1 − final value rate − promoted listing rate − target margin)

  1. Add all fixed and per-order costs.
  2. Convert percentage rates to decimals.
  3. Subtract fee rates and target margin from one.
  4. Divide costs by the remaining revenue share and validate the market price.

Frequently asked questions

eBay Pricing Calculator FAQ

What should I verify before using this calculator?

Verify country, platform plan, product category, tax treatment, currency and the effective date of every rate.

How accurate is the result?

The arithmetic follows the displayed formula. Accuracy depends on complete inputs, current rates and consistent treatment of taxes, refunds, shipping and other costs.

Can I use another currency?

Yes. Keep every monetary input in the same currency. The calculator does not convert exchange rates.

Should tax be included in revenue?

Use one documented convention. For profitability analysis, many sellers use revenue excluding pass-through sales tax or VAT, but local accounting rules may differ.

How should I handle refunds?

Use expected refund and return costs in planning, then reconcile with actual platform reports. Do not count refunded revenue as retained sales.

Are platform rates guaranteed?

No. Platforms can change rates by country, plan, category, payment method or contract. Verify current official documentation before a pricing decision.

Are my inputs uploaded?

No. Calculator inputs are processed locally in the browser.
