Calculator guide

Turn PayPal gross sales into net revenue

Enter average order value and monthly transaction count, then split the international share and the share of international sales requiring conversion.

The model applies base processing to all sales, international and conversion rates to the relevant international portion, and refund loss as a percentage of gross revenue.

Refund loss is a planning allowance, not a prediction of which processing fees PayPal returns. Keep it separate from chargebacks and product-return costs if those are material.

Reconcile monthly estimates against PayPal activity reports and update the assumptions when country mix or payment methods change.

Formula

Turn PayPal gross sales into net revenue

Net revenue = gross sales − processing fees − international and conversion fees − refund loss − other monthly fees

  1. Calculate gross revenue from average order value and transaction count.
  2. Split domestic and international revenue.
  3. Apply base, international and conversion fee rates.
  4. Subtract refund allowance and other monthly fees.

Frequently asked questions

PayPal Net Revenue Calculator FAQ

Should I replace the default rates?

Yes. Defaults are examples. Use the current rate and fixed fee from the marketplace, payment account or contract that applies to your country and transaction.

How accurate is the result?

The arithmetic follows the displayed formula. Accuracy depends on complete inputs, correct fee scope and consistent currency and reporting period.

Can I use another currency?

Yes. Keep every monetary input in the same currency. The calculator does not perform foreign-exchange conversion unless conversion is an explicit input.

Should taxes be included?

Follow the platform fee base and your accounting purpose. Some platforms calculate fees on tax or shipping; the guide and formula show the scope used here.

Why should I run more than one scenario?

Rates, advertising, shipping and refunds can change. A base case and a higher-cost case show how sensitive profit or payout is to those changes.

Is this an official calculator?

No. It is an independent planning tool. Confirm rates and final decisions with the linked official sources and your account statements.

Are my inputs uploaded?

No. Calculations run locally in the browser and do not require sending calculator inputs to a server.
